For most of Wednesday night, the Dallas Wings appeared ready to protect their home court.

Dallas controlled the first half.

The Wings carried a 38-32 lead into halftime.

Atlanta entered the fourth quarter facing a 12-point deficit after trailing by as many as 15.

Then the Dream turned the game into a nightmare for Dallas.

Led by Angel Reese and Allisha Gray, Atlanta stormed back with a 30-point fourth quarter and escaped with an 82-81 victory.

Reese helped establish Atlanta's physical presence and kept the Dream within striking distance.

Gray took over when the game mattered most, delivering in the closing moments to complete the comeback against the team that drafted her.

Together, Reese and Gray combined for 47 points and helped Atlanta leave Dallas with one of its most dramatic victories of the season.

Why It Matters

The victory arrived at an important moment for the Dream.

Atlanta began the season with promise but entered the All-Star break searching for greater consistency after a shaky stretch of games.

Dallas, meanwhile, returned from the break with an 18-10 record, home-court advantage, and growing confidence.

The Wings also had momentum surrounding Azzi Fudd, who entered the matchup fresh off winning the WNBA All-Star Three-Point Contest.

For much of the night, Dallas appeared prepared to turn that momentum into another victory.

Atlanta refused to let that happen.

Instead of allowing the deficit to become another disappointing result, the Dream stayed composed, continued attacking, and produced their best offensive quarter when they needed it most.

Road victories are difficult.

Comebacks from 15 points down are even harder.

Doing both against a winning team immediately after the All-Star break made Atlanta's performance even more significant.

Angel Reese Helped Set the Tone

The final moments belonged to Allisha Gray, but Atlanta's comeback required contributions throughout the game.

Angel Reese established herself early with her physicality, interior presence, rebounding, and ability to create pressure around the basket.

As Dallas built its advantage, Reese helped Atlanta remain close enough to continue believing a comeback was possible.

Her activity gave the Dream a reliable presence inside and helped prevent the Wings from completely taking control.

That persistence became increasingly important as the game moved into the fourth quarter.

Atlanta did not need one spectacular possession to erase the deficit.

It needed repeated stops, rebounds, aggressive drives, and disciplined offensive possessions.

Reese helped provide the foundation for that effort.

Allisha Gray Delivers Down the Stretch

When Atlanta needed someone to finish the comeback, Allisha Gray answered.

Gray began her WNBA career with the Dallas Wings before joining the Dream, making her late-game performance even more meaningful.

With Atlanta closing the gap and the Dallas crowd growing tense, Gray remained composed.

She helped lead the Dream's fourth-quarter surge and converted crucial late free throws after a flagrant foul against Arike Ogunbowale gave Atlanta an opportunity to complete the comeback.

In a game decided by a single point, every possession mattered.

Gray made sure the most important ones belonged to Atlanta.

Her performance added another memorable moment to a season in which she has continued establishing herself as one of the Dream's most dependable players.

A 30-Point Fourth Quarter Changes Everything

Atlanta struggled to generate consistent offense through the first three quarters.

The Dream failed to score 20 points in any of those periods and entered the final quarter trailing by double digits.

Then everything changed.

Atlanta scored 30 points in the fourth quarter, its highest-scoring period of the night.

The Dream attacked with greater urgency, found better scoring opportunities, and applied pressure to a Dallas team that had controlled most of the game.

Possession by possession, the lead disappeared.

What initially looked like a comfortable night for the Wings became a one-possession battle.

By the closing seconds, Atlanta had transformed a 15-point deficit into an 82-81 victory.

A Nightmare Finish for Dallas

The Wings received strong performances from several players.

Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas with 24 points, while Azzi Fudd added 20 following her All-Star Weekend three-point title.

Dallas had the lead, the crowd, and the momentum for most of the game.

But Atlanta had the stronger finish.

The Dream's resilience exposed how quickly a game can change when a team remains composed and continues competing through adversity.

Dallas spent most of the night in control.

Atlanta only needed the final quarter to take the victory.

Atlanta Local Perspective

Atlanta's best teams have often reflected the character of the city itself.

Resilient.

Confident.

Creative under pressure.

Unwilling to quit.

The Dream displayed each of those qualities in Dallas.

They fell behind by 15.

They entered the fourth quarter down 12.

They faced a team playing at home with the confidence of a contender.

None of it stopped them.

Angel Reese helped establish the foundation.

Allisha Gray delivered when the game reached its most important moments.

And the Dream walked off the Wings' home court with an 82-81 victory that may become one of the defining moments of their season.

Dallas had the advantage for most of the night.

But when the final buzzer sounded, the nightmare belonged to the Wings.
